Personalizing The World

Is there a way to upload more fonts for Print designs? We noticed that only basic print style fonts are loaded on LiveDesigner. There are no script, collegic, or any creative or dynamic fonts. These fonts are necessary to sell online to high school and college students, groups and organizations. We also need to upload special fonts that are required for Rhinestone designs.

Do you have some examples (i.e. names or links) for the types of fonts you'd be interested in seeing?

We're trying to figure out how to offer this capability to all users, while keeping the technical limitations as low as possible. We're working on adding some new embroidery fonts to the system, but don't have enough information on the specific types of printing fonts that we need to support.

Any further feedback you can provide will be very helpful.

How about fonts that are similar to those in Corel? I need fonts including aurora, bauhaus, bodoni black, brody, brush script, century 725 black, cooper, copperplate, davidson americana, dead secretary, engravers mt, eras ult black, freestyle script, futura extra black, gothic 821, handel gothic bold, ireland, jupiter, kaufmann, kids, latin wide, microgramma bold extended, saddlebag, saved by zero, serpentine bold, shadowed germanica, stencil, thunderbird and zapf chancery. And if there is a licensing issue, can you set up a mechanism whereby each individual user can upload his own fonts to his website, like the way one is allegedly able to upload vector files?

I echo Mike's comments. I need the same fonts as he listed, and completely agree on using a Corel standard of fonts. That would satisfy 95% of your print customers.

I spoke with Technical Support today and we talked about a couple of things that will be passed on the the developers. Besides the font issue, I think we should have another line on the livedesigner page where besides the number of pieces x the design price + garment cost showing as a total number, the per each price derived from dividing the total price by the number of pieces. For those of us who are screenprinters, this allows the customer to take advantage of quantity price breaks by showing them what their per piece price is and how it changes based on quantity ordered. Most of my customers are reselling shirts or buying for a club or event based on a budget and they all ask "how much is that, per shirt, out the door?".
Additionally, the ability to outline fonts like the auto border feature in embroidery would be most beneficial for screenprinting or DTG orders.

As Mike says, our support and development team are working on a way to add more fonts to the system. We are preparing to do a test upload of some hand-picked fonts from Mike and see if we can have them be recognized properly by the system, and only be available for a single site (i.e. Mike's).

If this test is successful, then we may be in a position to allow customers to upload a small number of fonts for use only by their individual LiveDesigner Suite website.

FONT PROGRESS! We are working through a number of issues to make LiveDesigner more useful for screenprinting and direct-to-garment printing but there is still a ways to go. We got the fonts up there and the system seems to be working for initial applications but we need to address some flexibility problems that came up. I will be starting a blog to give progress updates and if it is not posted here on mymelcoworld.com, it can be followed at mike-signs.com where I will have it available after Thanksgiving. I know there are those of you out there who are awaiting the next development and I want to keep you up to speed as we try to take the necessary steps to fully realize the potential of LiveDesigner. During a teleconference with the developers, we also identified some "hinkies" in uploading your own vector art designs and I will be sharing the things that you now have to do in order be able to offer your own catalog of designs on your LiveDesigner website. Stay tuned.
Mike

How do things stand on the Font front? I've heard there is a new release coming out soon, but I was curious if any new fonts are being added. The fonts that are currently available are pretty boring for printing.
