Hello, If you have Design Shop Pro+ you have a shadow tool you can use to add a drop shadow. Under the Object tab in the tool bar you will see Shadow. Click on that and you will get a box call Create Shadow.
You need to have some lettering or an object on the screen for the Shadow icon to show up under the Object tab.
If you don't have Pro+ you can make an easy drop shadow by duplicating the object or lettering you want to shadow and off- set it, and edit it to get rid of some of the stitching you don't need.

i do not have pro+ so that is what i a do is duplicate and off-set it but i dont delete stitches. how exactly do i do that? its just wording from the stock fonts the program came with, can you do that?

If you want to delete stitches in the shadow lettering you have made in DS, the you select the lettering, then click on the "x" for that specific letter, then right click on that specific letter and then select "Wireframe Editing". That will show you all the triangles and lines that create that letter and you can change it any way you would like. Just make sure you shut off, or change your underlay for that newly formed letter because it won't know it and then your underlay may exceed the limits of your new shadow letter....time consuming this way but possible. :-) I've included a screenshot of it...hope it helps :-)
