Personalizing The World

I have light weight, woven bowling shirts to embroidery.  The customer wants last names on the back.  He wants them 10" wide.  Here is the problem,  the names are short and it makes the letters really large.  If I do a satin stitch it is too wide of a stitch and if I do a fill it looks and feels to heavy.  Does any one have any ideas?  What stabilizer should I be using?

What about a split satin stitch?

What about having the names cut out by stahls and then doing them via applique?

Susan, I think your right. How do you do a split satin stitch? I am really new to this. I bought my machine and then was hurt in the ice storm in 2007. I ended up having back surgery and now I am back on my feet trying to get a business going. Thanks for all your help.

Beth, The best way I can describe it is, it puts a stitch in the middle of the satin stitch, so you don't have a to wide of a satin stitch. I hope I didn't confuse you more. Maybe some one else can explain it better than I did.

I wonder - maybe you could talk to your customer about height instead of width?? Give him the example of the name Joe of Sue and see if that will help him/her with the perception??

A split stitch sounds perfect....how do you do one? I have seen them, and we talked about them in training, but I don't know how to DO one....anywhere you can direct me?

Would love to see a picture of the bowling shirts if you have one!

O.K. I can picture it, but how is it done? Do you add a "center underlay" to the top of a Satin?
